Term Paper Countdown

All joking aside, we are in the last weeks of the class and the big project is the Term Paper.  Today we will be doing a cut and paste revision for Thesis.  In addition I'd like to get some time to work on the Argumentative essay which is due in rough copy form this Friday.

Logos, Ethos, Pathos

The Rhetorical Triangle looks kind of like a third grader drew it but it gets the message across just fine.  The point is that you really need all three of these in order to have a good argumentative essay, persuasive essay or great speech.  If you really want to see these three principles in action head over to the American Rhetoric website and read or listen to some speeches.  Please post your comments in the comments section by Friday.

An Historic Comparison

Your assignment this week asks you to post your edited versions of some sentences in need of proofreading.  As we attempt to recapture some lost time please consider this comparison from the reading I assigned.  Even these two images are food for thought and present these two famous American figures as opposites.  If you feel compelled, you may comment on the comparison the images present to us here.  I hope to see you all on next Monday after we set our clocks ahead on hour.....

Welcome to Comp 101

This course is designed as a compromise between an online course and a traditional classroom experience. As such much of the work we do will be here on the blog site, on Box.net or the college portal.

This site is provided as a place for you to check your assignments, post homework responses and contribute to a discussion between you and your peers. Participation on this site is mandatory as it consists of one class session per week. If you don't make the assigned posting on time it will count as an absence. Furthermore, the quality and frequency of your posts here count towards your class participation grade.

Most of all I hope you find this resource a useful tool to air your opinions and post ideas in a free and fair atmosphere. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In order to make a posting just click on the comment icon below my post. You can choose to type your answer in the text box or copy and paste from another document. When you are finished you click the publish post button and away you go.
